Fee Audits and Benchmarking

Independent, objective, and unbiased fee audit and benchmarking services.

Plan sponsors have a fiduciary obligation to know the total costs of operating a plan. Although they are not required to choose the least expensive services, they need to know who is receiving money and if the expenses provide good value for the plan. Gallagher Retirement Services takes a holistic approach when conducting a Fee Audit to determine the reasonableness of plan fees. We analyze the plan provider, type of plan, plan size and the services rendered by the provider(s). In our recent audits we have found wide ranges and disparities in fees for services rendered on behalf of 401(k), 403(b), and Defined Benefit plans.

Forensic Fee Audit uncovers current provider's hard dollar, soft dollar, and transactional fees to help plan sponsors meet their fiduciary duties and manage overall plan costs.

Fee Benchmarking compares the current provider's hard dollar, soft dollar, and transactional fees to other providers in the retirement plan marketplace.

Gallagher’s Approach to Compensation

In our capacity as a trusted adviser and to maintain our unbiased, objective, independent consultative approach, Gallagher Retirement Services does not accept any contingent compensation, soft dollar arrangements, additional compensation, or marketing allowances from product vendor providers. We provide a detailed Compensation Disclosure Statement which discloses all customized services and the commissions or fees that Gallagher receives. Both the plan sponsor and GRS sign off on this document.
